RODSOCK Background
RODSOCK was designed &
developed from a specific personal need. Like most anglers - I had
acquired an array of fishing rods over the past 40 years of fishing.
Fishing rods are not cheap, particularly as you become more proficient & look for better quality & specific equipment to target fish. I have approximately 30 fishing rods at the time of writing, ranging from 2 piece fibre-glass to $450 custom 1 piece graphite fishing rods. Storage is always a problem particularly as like most anglers most of my fishing rods spend most of their time not used and in storage. Sure I have the home made fishing rod rack set up on the garage wall. But even so I needed something that would protect my fishing rods from dirt, abrasion & moisture whilst in storage or being transported. I had tried the PVC storm water pipe and purpose made fishing rod tubes but still I found the fishing rod tip and guides were scratched or damaged. I had tried traditional fishing rod bags but again found they were too thin, too big or poorly made of inferior materials.
I needed something that
would cover my fishing rods but was thicker and softer than calico or PVC, would
not sweat and was fitted with sufficient stretch to fit over the fishing rod
guides. But nothing was available in the market. With 25 years of textile background I decided to develop my own solution. I wanted the flexibility to take the covered fishing rod straight from its storage rack to my roof rack tubes or airplane tubes with the knowledge they would arrive in the same condition as when I last used them. So began the development of the RODSOCK concept to design and develop a superior Pro-Wrap™ fishing rod cover for maximum protection.
